Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church is a parish of the Orthodox Church in America. We are composed of both converts to the faith and "cradle" Orthodox of various backgrounds. On this website you can learn more about the Orthodox faith, as well as about our community.

Our priest is Father Alexis.  Fr. serves three missions, so he rotates on weekends to serve Vespers and Divine Liturgy at Saint Catherine Orthodox Church in Columbus and at Holy Cross Orthodox Church in Hattiesburg.  Occasionally he also assists Fr. Paul at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Clinton.  Because of Father Alexis' schedule, at this time Vespers and Divine Liturgy are served one weekend a month at Christ the Saviour.   On those weekends when Fr. is not here, we have Reader's Service (Typica) on Sunday mornings at 10 am.  Click here for our Schedule of Services and here for Fr. Alexis' biography.

Our community is made up of Orthodox Christians who live in the McComb area and beyond. Some of us were born into the Orthodox Church and others are converts to the faith. If you are an Orthodox Christian or if you're interested in learning more about Orthodoxy, we invite you to attend any of our services or contact Father Alexis at 601.310.2256 or arizonitisa@gmail.com.  We will be delighted to meet you!

About the Orthodox Church in America

The Orthodox Church is the Church which has existed continuously in the Middle East and Greece from the time of the Apostles. It is the faith of the majority of Christians in the Middle East, Greece, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Albania, Ukraine, Georgia and Bulgaria. With the exception of Rome, the local Churches mentioned in the New Testament which have existed continuously until today, such as Corinth, Thessaloniki, Damascus, etc., are Orthodox. The Orthodox Church in America is the continuation of the first Orthodox mission to North America, begun in Alaska in 1794 by St. Herman and other Russian monks.
