6 PM Mother Magdalena talk-"Joyful Prayer"
“Joyful Prayer”
Scripture tells us that Jesus is joy, light, love. We long to make this real in our lives, but too often prayer feels like one more task among the too many we already have. What does it mean to have Christ at the center of our life? This session will explore prayer as a love relationship: God’s part and our part.

“When you find Christ, you are satisfied, you desire nothing else, you find peace. You become a different person. When there is love for Christ, loneliness disappears. You are peaceable, joyous, full. Christ is in all your thoughts, in all your actions. You have grace and you can endure everything for Christ. You can endure injustices for Christ, and indeed with joy. When Christ enters your heart, your life changes. Christ is everything.”
Elder Porphyrios in Wounded by Love

Mother Magdalena has been an Orthodox nun for 16 years. She resides at the Orthodox Monastery of the Transfiguration in Ellwood City, PA. In addition to speaking at retreats, she does the monastery bookkeeping and manages the store. And she has a Mississippi connection—a few years ago, her family discovered that they have descendants who lived in Mississippi in the 1850s, 2 of whom were in the military and died in the Civil War.
